School Project for Tsunami Victims - Village Pudukuppam

Pondicherry, India

Pudukuppam is a small fisher village situated in the South of India, near Pondicherry. In December 2004, this village was partly destroyed by the devastating Tsunami that hit South Asia. Only few houses survived the disaster. Shin Shiva Charitable Trust (SSCT) constructed new section for girl school at Kalapet. After removing three old buildings of Kalapet Girls High School, SSCT re-constructed 8 class rooms / two storey building and now this school has been upgraded to Higher Secondary School instead of High School. School will provide quality education as well as quality infrastructure to more than 160 girl students from surrounding areas.

We would like to thank Lt. Governor M.M. Lakhera (former Governor of Pondicherry), Dr. Brigit Spengler from Saarland, Germany, Mr. Virendra Aswal, Project Head for Pudukuppam school project and State Govt. of Pondicherry. It was because of their sincere efforts and commitment towards this project that we were able to complete it successfully.
